Shide (pronounced she dey) is Tibetan and means peace and happiness. It is the first German nunnery in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and wishes to provide nuns with conducive conditions for studying and practicing Buddha´s teachings, thus transmitting peace and happiness into the world.

May the prayers, retreats and monastic activities of the Buddhist nuns in Shide Nunnery contribute to the happiness and welfare of all living beings.
